Cyber dialogues

The cyber dialogues are workshop-style meetings in which representatives of policy, academia, business and civil society meet to discuss a relevant theme in cyber security governance at a level of abstraction that is just above the level of the day to day dossiers people are working on.  An international academic starts off the meeting with a short introduction (25 mins) which is followed by a roundtable discussion (of about 2 hours) that is actively moderated with a focus on a number of sub questions. The number of participants is maximum 25.

International workshops

The international workshops are meetings with a limited number of high quality participants that focus on a specific theme and aim to produce an outcome document. Oftentimes these meetings are co-organised with one of the Program’s key strategic partners.

Public lectures

Public lectures will be given on a regular basis at Leiden University’s campus in The Hague by team members of The Hague Program for Cyber Norms, or by visiting scholars, for instance those doing a fellowship.

Each year we organize a number of different types of meetings. These meetings include:

International conferences

This is the flagship conference of the Program, with the explicit aim of widening the academic debate about cyber norms and related issues. It is primarily an academic conference, which invites early career scholars (late PhD/postdoc researchers) as well as more senior researchers. The program consists of a mix of keynote speakers and parallel sessions.  The next international conference will take place from Monday 5 November until Wednesday 7 November 2018. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Responsible Behavior in Cyberspace – Novel Horizons’.

Confirmed keynote speakers are prof.dr. Laura DeNardis (American University, Washington DC, USA), dr. Myriam Dunn Cavelty (ETH Zürich, Switserland) and dr. Adam Segal (Council on Foreign Relations, (New York, USA).
